Insulation

Insulation is one of the most contentious topics of DIY van conversions. I decided to go with one of the more expensive albeit easiest to work with and highest ratio of insulation R-value per square inch: 3M Thinsulate. This material is also hydrophobic, fire retardant and non toxic. Acting as a vapor barrier is also HUGE.
Also made by 3M, I used an adhesive that works well with metal: 90 adhesive (see total spend spreadsheet) to stick it to the walls and ceilings.
Filling every crevice is time consuming but essential in the long run because if water ever gets in (hopefully never) it won’t pass the thinsulate which acts as a vapor barrier.

3M Thinsulate /w an R-Value of 3.3 / inch. Also is fire retardant, hydrophobic and sound deadening. Cozy.
Outstanding areas:
- Still need to figure out how to remove the cabin headliner to place thinsulate there, and add in any additional slots !
