Flooring

I used 4 layers of flooring as follows:

  1. .40” Minicell which acts as a sound deadening and insulation to fill the corrugations
  2. .25” Minicell similar as above but flat
  3. ½” Baltic birch to server as a subfloor
  4. Vinyl sheet for moisture prevention

The reason why we don’t use thinsulate is because most insulation like thinsulate requires full expansion in order to be effective, if it’s in the floor it both won’t expand and won’t “breathe”.

All edges are filled with spray insulation and sealed with silicone.

corrugations are 1/2" high

corrugations are ½" high

Got some caulk on the edging that doesn't want to come out, so I'll have to buy a new one if I ever care enough. It's called a Rear Sill Plate

I don’t like how this turned out at all so I’m going to get a new sheet from Home Depot and redo it. What I’ll do different this time is trace the floor layout on the ground and leave 2” in excees around it to accommodate the gaps.

Regrets:

I should've used some type of joining method between the ½" plywood (like a dado or biscuit joint). Can always remove everything, rip up the plywood and try again though if it get's too annoying.
